Ofsted Report June 2018
Lowerhouses CE Primary School is proud to share the findings of our most recent Ofsted inspection, carried out on 26th and 27th June 2018, where the school was judged to be a Good school. Inspectors recognised the strong, nurturing ethos of our community and the commitment of leaders and staff to ensuring every child feels safe, valued and able to thrive.
The report highlights many strengths across our school community, including our inclusive ethos, commitment to pupil wellbeing, and the quality of teaching and learning. We continue to build on these foundations to ensure every child receives the best possible education in a nurturing and inspiring environment. You can read the full report below.

Good teaching and learning
Teachers were recognised for their strong subject knowledge, calm classrooms and high expectations. Pupils show positive attitudes to learning and make good progress across the curriculum.
A caring, inclusive environment
The report highlights the school’s nurturing culture, where pupils feel safe, supported and confident. Staff know pupils well and provide a “haven” where children can flourish.

Curriculum development – ensuring our curriculum is ambitious, inclusive and carefully sequenced
-
SEND provision – expanding support, improving identification and strengthening our graduated approach
-
Safeguarding – enhancing training, systems and early‑help partnerships
-
Reading and vocabulary – embedding high‑quality phonics and language‑rich teaching
-
Pastoral support – deepening our nurture‑based approach and wellbeing offer
-
Leadership capacity – strengthening middle leadership and subject expertise
We are proud of the progress we have made and remain committed to continuous improvement.
