πŸ“š What We’re Learning

🌟 Yellow Class – Autumn 2: Lights of the World

Welcome back! This half term, our exciting new topic is called β€˜Lights of the World’. We’ll be exploring themes of light, celebration, and reflection across the curriculum.

πŸ“š English

We begin by learning about Remembrance Day, asking the question: Why was the poppy chosen to mark Remembrance Day? Children will write poetry inspired by both Remembrance and our previous topic, The Great Fire of London. Later in the term, we’ll enjoy festive texts including The Santa Trap, focusing on sentence starters, coordinating conjunctions (for, and, but, or, yet, so), and descriptive adjectives. We’ll continue to practise spelling key words and forming letters correctly.

πŸ“– Reading

Reading remains central to our learning. Please read with your child every evening and sign their Reading Log to help them earn certificates.
πŸ“˜ Little Wandle books must be returned every Monday morning.

βž• Maths

This half term we’re focusing on:

  • Addition & subtraction with two-digit numbers
  • Solving missing number problems
  • Number facts to 20

✝️ RE

Our big question is: Why does Christmas matter to Christians? We’ll reflect on the meaning of Christmas and share our thoughts in our class reflection area.

🧱 DT

We’ll explore stability and strengthening structures, inspired by Baby Bear’s chair.

🧠 PSHE

Our Jigsaw topic is β€˜Celebrating Difference’, helping children understand and appreciate diversity.

πŸƒ PE

PE continues every Wednesday and Friday with Mr Conway from SM Sports. Please ensure children wear their full PE kit, including trainers or pumps. Earrings must be removed or covered with plasters.
