πŸ“Œ Nursery Notices

  • πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ PE Day: Thursday morning
  • πŸ“„ Parent Info Sheet: See below to find out how you can support your child’s learning at home.

πŸ“š What We’re Learning

πŸ—£οΈ Communication, Language & Literacy

  • This half term, the class will be enjoying the stories The Train Ride πŸš‚ and Naughty Bus 🚌. Children will explore the stories through role‑play and small‑world activities 🎭, using props to help retell key events. Information books will support learning about different types of transport, and there will be lots of opportunities to listen for and join in with rhyming words 🎢.
  • In phonics, the focus will be on hearing the initial sounds u, r, h, b, f, l at the beginning of words πŸ”€. Children will also practise oral blending of simple CVC words to build early reading skills πŸ‘‚πŸ˜Š.

πŸ”’ Mathematics

  • Maths learning will link closely to our transport theme, with opportunities to use vocabulary related to time ⏰ and money πŸ’° during play. Sequencing activities will help children use the language first, then, after 🧩.
  • The class will also be introduced to 3D shapes πŸ”ΊπŸŸ¦, explore prepositional language such as on, under and next to, and practise counting to 10 with 1:1 correspondence πŸ”ŸπŸ‘.

🌍 Understanding the World

  • Children will explore how people and objects move across different environments 🌦️🌍. By looking at vehicles in the local area πŸš—πŸšœ, they will begin to recognise different types of transport and talk about how they are used.
  • Sorting activities will help children group transport into land, sea and air categories πŸš—β›΅βœˆοΈ.
  • There will also be opportunities to learn about road safety 🚦 and to use simple technology such as maps and digital tools to explore routes πŸ—ΊοΈπŸ“±.

πŸƒ Physical Development

  • Nursery PE sessions will continue to focus on fundamental movement skills such as running, jumping and balancing 🀸. Children will also develop fine motor control through activities like threading, cutting and using tools safely βœ‚οΈπŸ§΅.
  • πŸ“… Nursery PE Day: Thursday

❀️ Personal, Social & Emotional Development

  • Independence skills remain an important focus, including practising how to zip coats and fasten buttons πŸ§₯πŸ’ͺ. Support with this at home is greatly appreciated.
  • This half term’s Jigsaw topic is β€˜Relationships’ πŸ’›. Children will learn about their families, the names of family members and the different jobs people do πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦.
  • We will explore friendship, how to make friends and ways to feel better when feeling lonely 🀝. Discussions will also help children understand kindness, unkind behaviour and how words can affect others πŸ’¬πŸ’—.

🎨 Expressive Arts & Design

  • Creative activities will be inspired by the world of transport πŸŽ¨πŸš—. Children will explore different textures and materials to build simple 3D models such as buses or boats using recycled materials πŸ“¦πŸ› οΈ. Drawing, painting and imaginative role‑play will also link to our transport theme βœοΈπŸ–οΈ.

🐹 Meet Our Nursery Guinea Pigs!

Say hello to our adorable classroom companionsβ€”our Nursery guinea pigs! These gentle little creatures bring so much joy and comfort to Rainbow Class. Children love helping to care for them, watching them nibble their snacks, and learning how to be kind and gentle with animals.

Having guinea pigs in the classroom helps teach responsibility, empathy, and curiosity about the world around us. Whether they’re snuggled in their cozy bedding or squeaking for a treat, they’re always a favourite part of our day! πŸ’›

We make sure they’re well looked after, and children are involved in feeding, cleaning, and giving them plenty of love. πŸ₯•πŸ§Ί
