Community Catch Up

 

We love telling you all about what is going on in our community.  Here in Lowerhouses we do lots of different things to ignite our community and it's spirit.  Below are a few activities and links you might be interested in.

 

Worth Unlimited

Worth Unlimited run several clubs which are held at Longley and Lowerhouses Community Church.

Details about each club are below:

 

Monday Kids Cooking Club
Tuesday 

Adult Crafts -  9-11.30am

Kids Crafts & Youth Club - 5-6pm

Wednesday 

Adult Cooking Club - 9-11.30am

Little Lambz - 1.30-3pm

Thursday  Senior Citizen's Lunch Club - 12.30pm every 2 weeks

Friday

Youth Games Club - 6pm

Children must be at least 8 years old to attend the Youth Clubs.

Worth Unlimited also run events throughout the school holidays.

Messy Church

Messy Church runs every month at Longley and Lowerhouses Community Church from 5.00pm - 6.30pm (Please see the Church notice board for dates).  A meal is provided and there are crafts, games, sketches and many more activities.  Perfect for all the family!

Plus it's free!

 

 

Stirley Farm

Yorkshire Wildlife Trust are redeveloping Stirley as an open access community farm providing facilities for a great day out as well as an opportunity to learn all about a working farm.

Volunteering with the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust is a great way to get out and meet new people, learn new skills and make a real contribution to nature conservation.

They run regular volunteer task days on Tuesdays from 10am - 4pm. Please contact Kim Warren if you would like to join in on 01484 663 185.

If you would like to volunteer at Stirley Community Farm some of the tasks will include:

  • Repairing walls, fences and field access
  • Monitoring wildlife and changes in the landscape
  • Working with livestock
  • General farm and countryside management
  • Tending the garden and veg. growing areas
  • Assisting educational activities
  • Helping to plan and run events celebrating local food
