🧠 This Half Term’s Topic: Who am I?
In Red Class, we love learning through play, creativity, and curiosity. Our days are filled with carpet time chats 💬, imaginative activities 🎨, and exploring all the different areas of our classroom—from the water tray 💧 to the malleable zone 🧼, painting corner 🎨, and DT station 🛠️.
We encourage children to share their ideas and help turn them into fun learning experiences. Every day is a new adventure!

📚 What We’re Learning
🗣 Communication, Language & Literacy

📖 Key story: The Three Little Pigs
Children will retell the story using finger puppets 🐷, miniature play 🏠, and story maps 🗺️.
We’ll also explore nursery rhymes 🎶 and build vocabulary through role play in our home corner 🏡. -
🔤 In phonics, we’re starting Phase 2 sounds—learning to blend and segment using single letter sounds.
🔢 Mathematics
- Practising counting with one-to-one correspondence 🎲
- Exploring daily routines 🕒, matching and sorting 🧩, comparing size and amounts 📏, and representing numbers 1–3.
💞 Personal, Social & Emotional Development
- Settling in, making new friendships 🤗, and building independence with self-care and belongings 🎒.
🏃 Physical Development
- Movement skills like hopping, skipping, and jumping 🐇
Daily outdoor play supports gross motor development, while fine motor skills grow through playdough, construction, and mark-making ✍️.

Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised
The resources on this page will help you support your child with saying their sounds and writing their letters. There are also some useful videos so you can see how they are taught at school and feel confident about supporting their reading at home.
These three videos show you how to pronounce the sounds. Notice how the children don’t add an ‘uh’ sound at the end, so they say: ‘t’ not ‘tuh’. Use the downloadable information to help your child remember how to write their letters and say their sounds.
