Welcome to Yellow Class.

In Year 2 we are the Superheroes!  Come and visit 'Hero Headquarters', to find out what we are learning about.

We enjoy completing Maths games and puzzles on the iPads and finding the answers to really tricky calculations.  We really love our new problem solving challenges, where we can show off our learning and understanding of different mathematical concepts.

In English we love reading stories and information texts linking to our exciting topics.

In English we will be reading stories with familiar settings. We will be reading the stories ‘Zog’ and ‘How to Trap a Dragon’ and the children will be learning to identify the sequence of events by drawing text maps and making story strings. The children will also learn to retell the story with actions in small groups. We will be exploring the characters in the story through the use of drama and role play. We will also be learning about the features of instructions and non-chronological reports. We will be writing our own instructions about ‘How to catch a dragon’ and we shall be writing a non-chronological report about ‘The Huddersfield Ridge-Back’.

Our topic is called Fire, Fire, Everywhere! We will be exploring the many aspects of the Great Fire of London such as why it spread so quickly and the rebuilding of London after the fire. We are also going to be thinking about how and why the fire happened. We will be using maps to locate London and look at the changes from 1666 to present day

Our SEAL topic this half term is ‘New Beginnings’.

We will continue to work hard on spelling key words and forming letters correctly.

In an afternoon we enjoy doing lots of different things including, Science, History, Geography Art, Music, PSHE and Computing.  We like to use our English and Maths skills in these lessons, to show off how much we've remembered, learnt and understood.

Look out for our Parent Information Sheet below!
