Welcome to Yellow Class.

In Year 2 we are the Superheroes!

Come and visit 'Hero Headquarters', to find out what we are learning about.

Spring 2 - 2020

We enjoy completing Maths games and puzzles on the iPads and finding the answers to really tricky calculations.  We really love our new problem solving challenges, where we can show off our learning and understanding of different mathematical concepts.

In English we will be reading the traditional story ‘Rapunzel’. We will be retelling the story and we shall create our own versions by changing the main characters and the settings. The class will also be looking at a book called ‘Pretty’ by Canizales.  This is all about a witch who longs to be pretty but we shall be writing instructions on how to be the perfect witch and how to date the perfect troll.   We will continue to work hard on spelling key words and forming letters correctly.

This half term our topic is called ‘Long, Long, Ago ......'.

We will be learning about and Kings and Queens and in particular the similarities and differences between Queen Elizabeth I and Queen Victoria. We will be exploring the qualities needed to be a good monarch and even have our own coronation ceremony. Furthermore, we will be designing and making our own crowns as well as looking at the artist Paul Klee and his famous painting ‘Castle and the Sun’.  We shall be using a variety of media to produce different versions of this painting.

In science the class will be learning about Living things and their habitats.

Our SEAL topic this half term is ‘It’s good to be me!’.

In an afternoon we enjoy doing lots of different things including, Science, History, Geography Art, Music, PSHE and Computing.  We like to use our English and Maths skills in these lessons, to show off how much we've remembered, learnt and understood.

Look out for our Parent Information Sheet below!
