Important information for Year 1
Our teacher is Mrs Newey and our teaching assistant is Mrs Hepworth.
In our classroom you will find a colourful, happy and warm environment with lots of activities to do.
In our continuous provision, we have different learning areas that are suitable for all of our learning needs that help us to read, write, draw and explore to enhance our skills in all areas of the curriculum.
We love to investigate and find out lots of interesting facts about new topics to develop our knowledge and understanding of the world.

Every day we love to learn our phonic sounds through activities and games using an I-pad and the interactive whiteboard.
In English, we love reading and exploring different genres of books and re-telling them through sign and role-play.
In Summer 2, we will be looking at our topic 'Roaming the Rainforest' focusing on and learning about the Amazon Rainforest, how to look after our world and all about recycling. There will also be an RE focus - learning about the Story of Creation which we will make links to the learning of the Amazon Rainforest.
In Maths, We enjoy using models and images to find the answers to tricky calculations and we love to solve challenges to show our understanding.

Each half term, we have a Geography/History focus where we develop and learn skills and knowledge. These are:

Summer 2: Roaming the Rainforest (RE Focus - The Story of Creation)
There will be opportunities for parents/carers to come into Year 1 throughout the school year, to work alongside your child.
Important things to remember in Year 1:
- PE takes place on a Tuesday afternoon and Friday morning.
- Library is on a Friday afternoon.
- Spellings are given out on a Friday (to practice during the week at home) and a test then takes place on the following Friday morning.
