Welcome to Year 5/6S
We are Violet class!
Our teacher is Miss Simpson and our teaching assistant is Mrs Kenworthy. On a Thursday morning, we have Mrs Hirst teaching us.
Throughout the course of the year, we are encouraged to develop our responsibility and become confident independent learners, by undertaking roles and responsibilities around the school such as; play leading, helping with the school tuck shop at break times, organising music for assemblies and much more.
We enjoy a broad and balanced curriculum with a wide range of creative activities. Our topics are;
Ancient Greece (Autumn 1)
North America (Autumn 2)
Ancient Islamic Civilisation (Spring 1)
Mesolithic (Spring 2)
Extreme Environment, Extreme Creatures (Summer 1)
All the Worlds a Stage! (Summer 2)
Throughout the year there are opportunities for parents and carers to join us in class to share our activities. We look forward to seeing you at these events.
What do Year 5/6S children need and when?
PE lessons take place on Tuesday and Wednesday. Please ensure your child has a full kit and jewellery is not worn. Please also make sure that all your children’s clothes are clearly labelled with their full name.
We change our school library books on a Tuesday. Children are allowed to borrow books for two weeks. Please make sure your child returns their book on time so that it can be renewed or exchanged.
Class reading books should be taken home and returned to school on a daily basis so that children can practice their reading both at school and at home. There should be at least 1 comment in per week with an adult from home.
Planners and Reading Logs must be signed once a week by an adult.
