Welcome to Yellow Class.

In Year 2 we are the Superheroes!  Come and visit 'Hero Headquarters', to find out what we are learning about.

We enjoy completing Maths games and puzzles on the iPads and finding the answers to really tricky calculations.  We really love our new problem solving challenges, where we can show off our learning and understanding of different mathematical concepts.

In English we love reading stories and information texts linking to our exciting topics.

This half term we are looking at a series of mini topics in English and throughout Topic lessons in the afternoons.

Our main stories are about Percy the Park Keeper.  However we will be looking at stories called ‘Big, Bad Owl’ ‘The Disgusting Sandwich’ and Scaredy Squirrel also.  The children will be retelling through Talk for Writing and use this technique to write their own stories, instructions, adverts and speeches. We will also be reading and writing Explanations, connected to our theme of ‘Let’s play in Percy’s Park!’

Our topic is called ‘Let’s play in Percy’s Park!’ and we will be focusing on animals, plants and maps. We will be visiting the park to help us with mapping skills and learning about how to improve our environment. In science, we will be learning about the environment. We will learn about climate change, greenhouse gases and recycling amongst lots of other things also.

Our SEAL topic this half term is ‘Relationships!’.

We will continue to work hard on spelling key words and forming letters correctly.

In an afternoon we enjoy doing lots of different things including, Science, History, Geography Art, Music, PSHE and Computing.  We like to use our English and Maths skills in these lessons, to show off how much we've remembered, learnt and understood.

Look out for our Parent Information Sheet below!

Here are some photos of our recent class vote to decide who will be our School Councillors!  The children loved listening to the candidates manifestos  and loved using the voting station.
